There is no doubt that the most exciting signing of the summer for Rangers has been Danilo from Feyenoord.

The reported £6m deal, the fact that he is Brazilian alone, and his previous reputation sees him as the one player that fans are most looking forward to seeing.

Speaking to The Rangers Review, Danilo’s former manager at Twente, Ron Jans, has done little to cool the expectation with a glowing reference.

Rangers finally get what they need with Danilo

The 24-year old has won the Eredivisie in his last two seasons at Ajax and Feyenoord and has played an important role for both sides.

It was at Twente though that Rangers newest recruit first came to prominence in senior football with Jans explaining exactly what Danilo will bring to the attack:

“Danilo prefers placement over power when it comes to shooting and he’s relatively strong on his left side too.

“At FC Twente, he didn’t have much of an opportunity to showcase his heading ability but that too isn’t bad considering his size.

“He can find the gaps between defenders, whether that be behind a defence or between the full-back and centre-back.

“Danilo is very clever in his positioning and at his best when he’s attacking these spaces.”

Exactly what Rangers have been missing, Danilo, unlike Alfredo Morelos, is a natural finisher.

El Bufalo was never known for his finesse, especially 1v1 and preferred to go for power over placement.

It looked great when it worked but he also missed a lot of chances as a result.

Rangers pre-season has been crying out for someone like Danilo to be the focal point and someone who will take the goalscoring responsibility.

Cyriel Dessers looked sharper against Hoffenheim and, with Danilo alongside him, Rangers could finally have a potent strike force and one that will be charged will firing us to glory.
