Former Rangers defender Filip Helander claims he will an accept an offer from ANY club as his contract ticks down at OB Odense.

The Swedish international, 30, has seen his career devastated by injury with the centre-back’s time at Rangers badly hampered by continuing issues.

Signed from Serie A Bologna on a £3m deal in the summer of 2019, when Filip Helander played he was an important player and a quality defender.

But now heading for the end of his contract in Denmark – which expires in the summer – it’s all getting a little bit desperate.

Filip Helander open to contract offers

Speaking to Fotball Direkt, Filip Helander has revealed that he is yet to be offered a new contract in Denmark.

Filip Helander is contracted to OB until the summer but in the meantime, the Swedish international is adamant he will consider any offer which comes his way.

“It is difficult to say what will happen,” said Helander.

“I’m under contract until the summer, and that’s the only thing I can relate to.

“If something else happens, I’ll take it at that time. I will not reject anything – not even OB. Right now I don’t have an offer on the table – neither from OB nor any other club.”

Speaking about his fitness, Helander also said: “It has not gone as well for the team as we had hoped, but for me personally it has been good to get started with football again.

“I have been injured a lot, so it has really been good for me.

“When you start playing matches, it goes relatively quickly, and the last six months have done me good – also in terms of my self-confidence.

“I’m not at my absolute best, but my body feels good and it will only get better when I get to play even more matches.”

Injury wrecked Swedish international’s Rangers stint

The tale of Filip Helander is something of a tragic one and his time at Ibrox will always be overshadowed by injury.

Undoubtedly a superb technical defender, there’s a reason why Big Fil spent time playing in Italy and Rangers thought they’d snapped up a bargain when he joined the club.

Proving a vital member of the 55-winning team and in the club’s European resurgence, the defender’s big injury issues stem back to that Betfred Cup Final defeat against Celtic in 2019.

Leaving the Gers in the summer – having made only 60 appearances across four seasons with the club – Filip Helander has worked his way back into the Sweden set-up at OB.

Playing 11 times for the club in the first half of the season, the centre-back’s future is clearly up in the air with Filip Helander open to offers just about anywhere as he looks to keep his career alive.

The defender has even previously refused to rule out a potential return to Ibrox.
