Rangers have missed out on the signature of Arsenal talent Lino Sousa as he prepares to complete a move to their Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

Sousa’s name hasn’t popped up at any point in this window but Fabrizio Romano now claims that Rangers have been keen on signing the teenager.
Romano believes that Rangers were battling Juventus and Galatasaray in the race to sign Sousa.
However, all three clubs have been pipped as Aston Villa have now agreed a deal to sign Sousa on a permanent basis.
It’s stated that a medical will take place in the coming hours with Villa beating Rangers to Sousa’s signature.
The 18-year-old was born in the Portuguese capital Lisbon but moved to Wolverhampton at the age of just eight.
Sousa joined the West Bromwich Albion ranks and impressed enough to earn himself a move to Arsenal back in 2022.
Sousa has been around the Arsenal first-team squad but hasn’t yet made his debut despite being in training and even in matchday squads.
An England Under-19 international, Sousa has been hailed as ‘outstanding’ by former Arsenal youth coach Kevin Betsy.
Arsenal now seem ready to let Sousa go and it’s no surprise to see him move back to the West Midlands by joining Villa.
Rangers may have seen huge potential in Sousa but this is one deal which seemingly won’t be happening as all eyes turn to APOEL loanee Jefte.
