Former Rangers star Lee Hodson is back in Glasgow with Partick Thistle after the Northern Irish right-back moved on loan to Firhill from Kilmarnock.
The move was announced on the Jags’ official social media channels with the now 30-year-old Northern Ireland international moving to Partick Thistle until the end of the season.
Speaking to the club’s media ahead of the move, Thistle manager Ian McCall said the Maryhill club are hoping to call on the experience of Lee Hodson at Championship level with the defender playing a role in Kilmarnock’s promotion last season.
So much so that the former Rangers man was the club’s “number one” defensive target.
“Lee was my number one target to add to the defensive ranks and I’m delighted that he is joining us on loan,” said McCall [PTFC].
“It took a little bit of time to do, but he is a quality player and it is always worth waiting that little bit of time for someone who will add quality to our squad.
“Lee has experience of winning at this level, being part of the Kilmarnock team which won the league last season and he’s a player that I can see making a real impact in our squad this season.
“Lee is the perfect type of defender as he is versatile and can fill in across the back line.
“He’s equally comfortable in both full back positions but he doesn’t look out of place at centre back as part of a back three either and he’ll push the rest of our defenders all the way to keep their place in the starting eleven.”
Ex-Rangers defender Lee Hodson signs for Partick Thistle
Lee Hodson started his career with Watford and spent time on loan at Brentford before moving to MK Dons.
It was from MK Dons that Rangers moved to sign the player in the 2016, with Mark Warburton moving for the right-back after he spent six months on loan at Kilmarnock in the first half of the year.
Signed as a deputy to now Rangers legend James Tavernier, the right-back struggled to dislodge the Ibrox skipper but managed 27 appearances across two full seasons with the club.
Spending a season on loan at St Mirren whilst at Ibrox, the defender would move on to Gillingham follow his release from Rangers before returning to Scotland on loan with first the Buddies and then Hamilton.

Moving to Kilmarnock full-time last season, Lee Hodson has now signed with Partick Thistle where the ex-Rangers man will hook up with several young Gers kid who’re on loan at the Glasgow club.
Cole McKinnon and Tony Weston are both set to spend time under Ian McCall at Partick as they continue their development with Rangers.
Meanwhile, a former Rangers manager has claimed that the Ibrox side failed in a record-breaking £15m move for a legendary former striker who is officially Glasgow bound.
