Ex-Rangers coach’s Dutch star claims highlight strict Ibrox transfer silence

Former Rangers coach Michael Beale has revealed that the Ibrox side tried to sign new QPR left-back Kenneth Paal during his time in Glasgow.

Now the manager of the Loftus Road club, his first top job in football, the talented tactician was speaking after the Rs secured the signing of the 25-year-old Dutch left-back.

The defender is Beale’s second signing at Loftus Road after Jake Clarke-Salter and joins on a free from PEC Zwolle after their Eredivisie relegation.

As the player was announced, Steven Gerrard’s former assistant revealed that he was desperate to sign Kenneth Paal during his time at Ibrox.

“I have followed Kenneth’s progress since that time at PSV and in the Dutch national teams,” said Michael Beale [QPR].

“I have seen him play a lot as he has grown into a senior player. He has always performed to a high level. I tried very hard to recruit him to Glasgow Rangers two summers ago.

”Therefore, I am delighted to have finally signed him and having the opportunity to work with him here at QPR.”

Michael Beale Kenneth Paal comments give Rangers transfer insight

These comments give an interesting insight into the tight-lipped transfer dealings that go on behind the scenes at Ibrox.

Since the appointment of sporting director Ross Wilson barely a peep escapes the corridors of the Rangers Training Centre and it’s telling no-one knew Rangers were considering recruiting Kenneth Paal in 2020.

The Gers rarely give anything away when it comes to which players they are in the market for and it’s become something of a bugbear amongst desperate fans.

Rangers supporters are getting antsy in this window as the silence coming out of Ibrox has them nervous regarding any potential summer business.

But it’s clear the quieter the better for Rangers when it comes to striking the right deal and the fact there wasn’t a peep about Kenneth Paal speaks volumes.

Rangers fans are best just to be patient and trust work is being done in the background but when football fans thrive off of transfer rumours, that’s easier said than done.

There does appear to be some substance in one report surrounding Rangers though amid claims the Ibrox side have officially launched a bid.
