The Galatasaray move for FC Midtjylland midfielder Evander has reportedly hit a late snag, heralding a mixed response from apathetic Rangers fans who’re unsure the board will move before the deadline passes.
Turkish journalist Kaya Temel had previously had Gers fans lamenting the Brazilian midfielder, 24, by claiming Galatasaray had reached an agreement with the player ahead of the deadline.
But this has been cast asunder by the same journalist, who now claims the two parties have met a stumbling block by way of a €7.5m (£6.4m) asking price.
Temel believes it’s not over until it’s over though, suggesting negotiations will happen up until the final moments of the window.
If anything, all of this probably suggests that Mr Temel’s information is about as reliable as a boat full of bullet holes coming up the Clyde during a Hurricane.
Galatasaray move for Rangers-linked Evander up in the air
The situation with Evander has been a strange one with Rangers mentioned earlier in the window alongside Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen but the sounds surrounding the interest suspiciously quiet.
Fans have picked up on the links to the Brazilian and social media has been awash with appeals to sign him but as things stand not a peep is escaping Ross Wilson’s office.
There’s a very real feeling that Rangers aren’t about going to sign anyone post-Champions League qualification with real doubts amongst the support in turn heaping real pressure on this board and management.
The Ibrox support have been urging the club’s hierarchy to invest some of that Champions League dosh back into the team and as they begin to fork out as much as £180 for a three-match package in the midst of a cost of living crisis, they are well within their rights.
If Rangers don’t go out and add the quality additions in attack and midfield that so many in the support believe the Ibrox side are lacking, then they’re taking a big risk.

If this Rangers squad cannot go on to wrestle the title back from Celtic then we suspect it won’t just be Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the firing line come the end of the season
Kaya Temel may well be right – Galatasaray may well have pulled out of the running for Evander; but at the minute there’s nothing really to suggest Rangers were ever in it.
In fact, if reports are to be believed it’s actually looking more likely Rangers will lose a key player rather than gain one.
