Randers sporting director Soren Pedersen has claimed Rangers are interested in striker Stephen Odey – with the forward now confirming he’s open to an Ibrox move.
A few weeks ago Pedersen claimed that both Rangers and Old Firm rivals Celtic had expressed an interest in the Nigerian forward.
This comes after the three-times capped 24-year-old Super Eagles striker netted 13 goals in all competitions last season.
However, at the time Pedersen cooled any suggestion an offer was on the table for Stephen Odey from either side of Glasgow.
“It is certainly not so concrete that I have an offer,” said Pedersen [Daily Record].
“That could easily happen. There are many clubs that have shown interest in him, because he is a good player. But there is nothing concrete from there.
“We’re happy with him and it’s not something where we’re saying he should be sold in this window.
“He has a great sporting value, so if we say yes to something, it must be both the right club and the right amount.”
Stephen Odey open to Rangers move
Now, Stephen Odey has opened the door to a move, claiming he is open to leaving Randers if the right club comes a’knocking.
The striker also commented directly on reported interest from Rangers and Celtic.
“If the right club comes, Randers have no choice but to let me go,” said Stephen Odey [Amtsavisen].
“But I am happy to be in Randers, and that does not change the fact that there are some rumours about other clubs.
“For me, it’s about the preparations for the new season with the team I’m part of.
“Rumors can spread quickly, but it’s not something I want to be distracted by.
“My agent takes care of everything that may be around the transfer market. I’m not trying to think about it.
“The important thing for me as a player is to focus on the preparations for the new season.
“These are big clubs, and it is clear that this is something that I want to be open to.

“But I’m in Randers, and right now that’s the only thing that matters.
“As long as I have not been presented with anything concrete, as I said, I will not let myself be disturbed by it.”
It remains unclear if either Rangers or Celtic will make interest in Stephen Odey firm with an offer but it is clear the Nigerian would be open to a move if they did.
But Rangers have moved to fill the striker void left by Cedric Itten as Croatian international Antonio Colak becomes the club’s new number 9.
One other high profile Rangers star could also soon be on his way out of Ibrox.
