England youth international Divine Mukasa reportedly “visits” Rangers amid links to Newcastle United and Manchester City following his release from West Ham.
The 15-year-old England talent is said to be sizing up his next move by credible Twitter account The Secret Scout, which has almost 120k followers on the social media platform.
Whilst the claim doesn’t go into much detail, the account claims that Divine Mukasa “visited” both Rangers and Newcastle United this week as he mulls over his future.
There are also links to Premier League champions Manchester City with Rangers seemingly having to fend off the Champions League winners in the hunt for the attacking midfielder.
Rangers linked to Divine Mukasa amid Academy revamp
Rangers’ academy has undergone a substantial revamp this summer with the club promoting Zeb Jacobs to the role of Academy Director following the exit of Craig Mullholland.
Rangers have also now pulled their B Team from the Lowland League after the SFA withdrew a vote on a newly promoted Conference League which would become the fifth tier of Scottish football.
Rangers have taken a pioneering role in the development of young players in Scotland in recent seasons with the club hoping a clear pathway into the first-team can convince the likes of Divine Mukasa to sign.
Young players like Nathan Patterson, Alex Lowry, Leon King and Adam Devine have all broken through from the club’s academy, with Scotland international Patterson moving to Everton in a £16m deal in 2021.
English-based players attracted to Rangers
Rangers have also attracted a series of young English-trained players to Scotland, with the likes of Joe Aribo signing from Charlton and Calvin Bassey from Leicester City in recent seasons.
Both have then gone on to bank the club healthy profits at Southampton and Ajax respectively, with Devin Mukasa potentially taking inspiration from another young English youth international in Zak Lovelace amid the links to Rangers.
The former Millwall striker has also made his first-team debut at the club and remains highly-rated by Rangers as they hope to build the now 17-year-old forward up into a regular starter.
Whilst Rangers face competition from two of the Premier League’s four Champions League clubs in the hunt for Divine Mukasa, the club’s creative approach to youth development makes them an increasingly attractive proposition for talented young English players.
