McPake has been on loan at SPFL Championship club Greenock Morton since September.

However, he missed their fixture against Ayr United on Tuesday night due to injury and reportedly travelled to Harrogate to take in their EFL League Two clash against Carlisle United, a game that was eventually abandoned due to the weather.

It’s since been reported that he will join Harrogate on loan once the transfer window opens [Daily Record] and Weaver has confirmed that multiple deals are close to completion.

“Definitely, yes,” he responded when asked if he planned to do business early in January [Harrogate Town AFC Twitter]. “We’ve got a few deals that are nearly there and hopefully we can integrate them into the squad at the start of next week.”

“We can reveal more then, but they are exciting young players that will add to the squad and I think will give us that padding that we’ve been missing and that we need.”

It’s a good opportunity for McPake, who is still only 19, to test himself in English football.

He made his senior debut for Rangers in a Europa League qualifier against St Joseph’s in July 2019 before joining Dundee for his first loan stint away from Ibrox.

The Scotland youth international has played ten times in all competitions for Morton this season, notching two assists.

His prospective new club, Harrogate Town, are currently 17th in the 24-team League Two after gaining promotion to the EFL via last season’s playoffs.

McPake might not be the only promising youngster heading out on loan next month, with two Dutch clubs reportedly chasing one of his team-mates
