David Weir has fired a warning to two reported Rangers targets, as quoted by the Daily Record.
With the window open, Steven Gerrard is trying to improve his squad as efficiently as possible.

Steven Davis, Greg Stewart,
Jordan Jones, and Jake Hastie are the confirmed arrivals so far.
However, there are more irons in the fire with George Edmundson [Scottish Sun] and Joe Aribo [Scottish Sun] particularly heavily linked.
The former was named in the EFL League Two Team of the Season after strong displays at centre-back for Oldham, while the latter is an exciting attacking midfielder who helped Charlton gain promotion to the Championship.

However, Weir says they’d be making a mistake if they think Scottish football is the easy route.
“I know a little bit about them and I have watched a lot of games in England and all over the place,” he said, as
quoted by the Daily Record. “It’s a massive step up from Oldham to Rangers, there is no doubt about that. People underestimate Scottish football and look at some of the games and say maybe the quality isn’t there.
“But the intensity, the physicality of the game up here is really difficult and a lot of players have come here and really struggled.
“I have watched a lot of English football at League One, Championship, Premier League and League Two and Scottish football rates, I don’t care what anyone says, in terms of being a difficult league.”

Verdict

There’s no doubt that while it isn’t highly thought of south of the border, Scottish football brings its own unique challenges.
There are plenty of established English league players who have failed to make the grade.
For example, the likes of Niko Kranjcar and Joey Barton struggled during stints at Ibrox.
However, Stevie G must believe both Edmundson and Aribo have what it takes. Aged 21 and 22 respectively, they have youth on their side hopefully we’ll see them making their mark for the Light Blues sooner rather than later.
