Danny Rohl is keen on bolstering his Rangers side with leaders after a disappointing end to the 2025/26 Scottish Premiership season.

Which is why he has turned his attention to a midfielder at a Premier League club, with the board expected to back him in the transfer window.

Rangers will see at least eleven players leaving this summer, making it imperative for them to add to their ranks as well.

Danny Rohl wants Rangers to sign Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil

Rohl has added Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil to his wishlist ahead of the summer transfer window, according to The Scotsman.

The 24-year-old was a target for the Ibrox outfit in the January transfer window as well, with the club making an attempt to secure his services.

However, they failed in their quest to bring him to Glasgow as Ipswich Town offered a significantly higher loan fee to convince Sunderland to let him move to Portman Road until the end of the season.

That decision paid off for the English club as Neil’s arrival helped them secure promotion back to the Premier League.

He is now a free agent and will consider his options as the Gers, along with other clubs, are in the hunt to sign him.

Ipswich may not be looking to sign him permanently, and that opens the door for the Light Blues to make a move.

Rohl reveals what kind of players he wants at Ibrox

With James Tavernier leaving in the summer, Rohl has a big decision to make as to who will be the next captain.

For the final game of the season, he has given John Souttar the armband, and it remains to be seen if the Scotland international becomes the next permanent skipper.

However, the German has revealed that he wants to sign more leaders once the window opens, and that explains the interest in Neil.

Rohl wants the standards to be raised inside the dressing room and for players to galvanise each other when the chips are down.

He knows that the players have not lived up to their expectations this season, and that could be down to the lack of proper leadership.
