Last week, Daniel Candeias liked posts on Instagram imploring him to return to Alanyapsor.
That sort of social media behaviour is often a precursor to a transfer. However, the Portuguese now looks to have put any speculation over a departure to bed.

“I always have to do better than the previous season, prepare well for it to be another good season and be the most successful time at the collective level,” he told Remate Digital.
“That’s about winning titles because a club like Rangers lives with it and those fans deserve it with the support they always give. This is my main goal, to help the team.

“Playing in Spain was fantastic but Turkey and Scotland was where I felt happiest and now playing in the Rangers with those fans is a fantastic thing.”
These comments are bound to be well received by Steven Gerrard.
Candeias made 52 appearances last season, meaning he was selected in all but eight of the club’s fixtures [Transfermarkt]. That’s an impressive record, especially considering he missed two matches through suspension.

He will face stiffer competition for his place next season, though.
Rangers have already strengthened in wide areas with the signings of Jordan Jones and Jake Hastie on pre-contract agreements.
Despite being left-footed, Hastie was deployed on the right wing for Motherwell, where he cut inside to great effect.
