Alfredo Morelos is gone, the king is dead, long live Cyriel Dessers, if reports linking him with a move to Rangers are accurate.

Talks are said to be progressing for the 28-year old Cremonese striker, the Light Blues interest confirmed this week, and he could well be the man to replace the enigmatic Colombian.

Cyriel Dessers might fill El Bufalo’s boots but how would he look for Rangers wearing them?

A €4m (£3.6m) deal with €1m in add-ons has been reported and that would represent a solid deal for an almost no-risk signing.

Rated very highly in the Netherlands due to his goal scoring exploits for Feyenoord, Utrecht, Breda and Heracles, footage of the versatile forward’s highlights looks impressive.

What would Cyriel Dessers bring to Rangers attack?

Cyriel Dessers doesn’t seem to rely on service from others, he can make his own chances and create them for others too.

Much like Alfredo Morelos in his pomp.

Then there is the turn.

Morelos was never blessed with pace, but Dessers appears to be a lot sharper, especially over five to ten yards.

He uses a move not too dissimilar to Michael Mols’s famous spin to evade defenders before bursting away.

For me, Dessers looks like a faster, more dynamic, bigger, Gabriel Amato.

A player capable of playing at number ten or as the main striker.

Put another forward next to him, like a Kyogo Furuhashi, and he could be dynamite.

Cyriel Dessers has been around the block and is at his peak.

Goals have been scored on a regular basis and with 151 goal contributions in 280 games, he has a better strike rate than Morelos’s 124 in 269 for Rangers.

There are top quality free transfer options available but if Cyriel Dessers is to be one of two or three new additions, then the Rangers attack could look very good next season.
