Crystal Palace are closely monitoring Rangers star Joe Aribo with a view to a possible summer swoop, according to Football Insider.

Aribo joined the Gers in 2019 from Charlton Athletic.

Since then, he’s made 106 appearances, scoring 19 goals and notching 17 assists, and has established himself as a regular at international level with Nigeria.

He hasn’t settled on one position but he’s a firm favourite of Steven Gerrard’s and has started every Premiership fixture so far this season.

Aribo is only contracted until the summer of 2023, though, and is being linked with a possible return to London.

Football Insider claims that he’s on the radar of Premier League club Crystal Palace.

It’s suggested that they will need to sign a new midfielder in the summer when Conor Gallagher’s loan from Chelsea expires and that Aribo could be the player they move for.

Crystal Palace keen on Rangers star Aribo

All Nigeria Soccer reported a few months ago that Aribo was attracting Premier League interest, so it’s no huge surprise to see Palace linked.

At 25, Aribo is moving towards the prime of his career and given that he’ll only have a year left on his current deal by the end of the season, the Eagles may be confident they can snap him up on the cheap.

Consistency has been an issue for him during his time at Ibrox but he’s an extremely talented player who’s starting to improve on his numbers in terms of goals and assists, and Rangers won’t want to lose him anytime soon.

Perhaps the club should table a contract offer at some point in the next few months and if he accepts, they’ll be in a better position to negotiate if offers start to roll in during the summer window.

In other news, Steven Gerrard believes Rangers have a ‘real top prospect’ on their hands.
