Controversial former Rangers star Aaron Ramsey has admitted he faces an uncertain future amid rumours linking him with a famous homecoming to Cardiff City.

The 32-year-old Welsh international started his career at Cardiff before going on to play for Arsenal, Juventus, Rangers and eventually Nice, for whom he has captained this season.

But with his contract set to expire come July, there is much speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future, with Aaron Ramsey yet to be offered a new deal by the Ligue 1 club.

Ramsey to focus on family

Speaking whilst on international duty with Wales, Aaron Ramsey admitted that there is much speculation around his future but refused to be drawn on those murmurs about Cardiff City interest.

The midfielder also claimed that amid the insecurity he will focus on spending time with family, football having got in the way of his home life during a busy career.

“The most challenging thing is being away from my family so that’s the situation I find myself in but other than that there’s a lot of positives that I’ve taken out of that,” Aaron Ramsey told Sky, who also mentioned the links to Cardiff.

“Seeing the kids growing up and things like that, missing out on certain things, it’s always difficult.

“It’s difficult for anybody to go through I imagine. So whatever we do going forward we will be reunited if you like and back together.”

“The most important thing for me right now is just to focus on these games and then we’ll find out in a few weeks’ time when everything’s settled down a bit.

“This season has been successful for me personally, played a lot of games, played some good football.”

Aaron Ramsey’s future uncertain

Rangers fans still get haunting flashbacks to Aaron Ramsey’s short but eventful stint in Glasgow, the former Cardiff City star joining on January’s deadline day back in 2022.

Injury disrupted Ramsey’s first few weeks in Glasgow, unsurprisingly, and the midfielder struggled to ever get a consistent run of games for Rangers.

Scoring the opener in an Old Firm game at Ibrox, which Rangers went on to lose 2-1, Aaron Ramsey’s time at Rangers is most remembered for that penalty kick miss in the Europa League Final v Eintracht Frankfurt.

Whilst the midfielder also won a Scottish Cup with Rangers, that decisively daunting miss in the penalty kicks defeat in Seville has etched him into Ibrox folklore for the wrong reasons.
