There have been conflicting reports surrounding Rangers’ apparent interest in Crystal Palace keeper Jack Butland as Man Utd are tipped to scupper any Ibrox deal.

Only a few weeks ago did any Rangers deal for Jack Butland look like a done thing, with the IbRox side looking to the ex-England international to fill the gloves of Allan McGregor next season.

But the emergence of Robby McCrorie had some fans asking the question over any investment with the young Scotland hopeful looking more than ready for first team football.

Couple this with reports that the Rangers Jack Butland deal had reportedly stalled on wages, and suddenly the Man Utd loanee’s future looked undecided.

Now, there have been reports claiming that Rangers are willing to match the £35k per week on offer from Crystal Palace in order to secure Jack Butland next season.

We reckon this would make Butland the Gers’ top earner and that’s why the claims do raise a few alarm bells either over reliability or suitability heading into next season.

Man Utd to scupper Rangers Jack Butland deal?

There have also been claims in the Scottish Sun that Man Utd – for whom Jack Butland has spent the last six months on loan – are also looking to scupper any Rangers deal and double the stopper’s wages.

It means everything is a little up in the air when it comes to Rangers’ interest in the former England goalkeeper even if it is clear nothing is cut and dry with Jack Butland as things stand.

The Rangers goalkeeping position has been a bugbear for supporters all season long and all the club’s fans are asking for is some assured planning between the sticks for next season.

With Allan McGregor set to retire, and Jon McLaughlin failing to grasp his chance at Rangers, a new goalkeeper looks to be top of the Ibrox side’s shopping list this summer.
