Rangers could announce latest signing “this week” as bargain fee agreed

Rangers could be set to announce another signing this week as the long-awaited move for Colombian striker Juan Alegria is set to be concluded with a fee agreed.

That’s according to a leading Colombian journalist, who claims a fee has been agreed between the Gers and Finnish side FC Honka ahead of the move being concluded.

Pipe Sierra of Win Sports TV, who have previously done interviews with Alfredo Morelos, made the claims via his personal Twitter account.

Sierra claims that Rangers have agreed an £85k fee for the 19-year-old forward which could rise due to bonuses with the journalist claiming the deal could be made official this week.

This news comes after reports last week suggested the player was in Glasgow underdoing a medical for the Gers ahead of a move.

The Athletic claimed that the Gers had struck a “six-figure” deal with Honka for Alegria with the Herald claiming the player had come through the medical with no issues.

Despite this, a move for Alegria has not yet been announced by Rangers but we suspect that after a 20 month pursuit, the striker could finally be at Ibrox soon.

However, before he moves to the first team this is expected to be a B team signing.

Alegria only moved to Honka in September last year following the expiration of his contract at Deportes Tolima.

Playing for Honka this season, Alegria netted a double in a 4-1 demolition of Veikkausliiga rival Ilves earlier in the month.

Colombia to Finland to Scotland is a path increasingly well-travelled with Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos taking the journey in his career.

The Colombian firebrand joined Rangers for a reported £1m in 2017 from HJK Helsinki and he has gone on to establish himself as the main man at Ibrox.

If Colombian youth international Alegria can go on to have a similar impact as Alfie at Ibrox then this will prove shrewd business by the Gers.

Speaking of signings going into the B team, one summer move is already showing Manchester United what they’re missing after joining the Gers.
