Philippe Clement will overhaul Rangers this summer on and off the pitch with a number of players already linked to the club.

Jose Cordoba is expected to be the first name through the door, Jefte is a done deal and Liam Kelly has agreed a Bosman transfer from Motherwell to return to Ibrox – according to various reports.

The transfer window isn’t even open yet but it has been reported that Philippe Clement is looking to totally revamp his Rangers squad with a well respected journalist revealing just how many new faces there could be.

Philippe Clement tipped to make massive Rangers overhaul

With six players out of contract and several more expected to leave, it’s little wonder that Chris Jack, speaking on the Rangers Review’s morning briefing for 21st May, has claimed that as many as 12 signings could be made.

When ask by Derek Clark about the recent rumours, Jack said:

“It’s just going to be a stream of names, some will turn out to be true, about a dozen will turn out to be true and I think Rangers will be in the market for round about that in terms of players coming in but there’s going to be a hundred names, easily, linked with Rangers in the coming weeks.”

Jefte is an obvious signing given how close a deal for the Brazilian left-back was said to be in January.

Despite an offer from APOEL, the 20-year old seems intent on moving to Rangers to replace Borna Barisic and challenge Ridvan Yilmaz for a starting berth.

Jose Cordoba is another one that makes sense.

The no-nonsense defender is closer to Filip Helander in terms of style of play but quicker and more athletic.

As a natural left footer, it’s easy to see who he could replace.

The surprise rumour has been the report claiming Liam Kelly is rejoining Rangers, the club he spent almost his entire development as a youngster.

Jon McLaughlin’s contract is ending but it could be that Robby McCrorie has intimated he wants to move on from spending every day at Auchenhowie only to sit on the bench at weekends.

Clement is going to have a busy summer

There are areas all over the park that need to be strengthened and it’s not just a case of replacing those who are leaving on free transfers.

The forward department is a mess and there is a severe shortage of quality and depth on the flanks.

Abdallah Sima and Oscar Cortes could well return but their injury histories mean that Rangers have to be cautious.

Midfield also needs some attention with only Mohamed Diomande seemingly being trusted by Clement.

It looks like Rangers under Philippe Clement are going to have the rebuild that Michael Beale should have made.

Instead, he left with a shortage of wingers, a collection of number 10s, no defensive midfielders other than Ryan Jack and not enough home grown players.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the early signs are good that Rangers are going to get it right.
