Champions League regulars eye Rangers star in seven-figure move

Rangers have struggled to move on those players who might not be considered as key to Michael Beale this season with Robby McCrorie falling into that category.

The 26-year old did his chances no harm last season when he was outstanding towards the end of the season, however, the arrival of Jack Butland means that he is back to being a back up and wants to leave.

The Rangers academy graduate now has a decision to make though with Man Utd reported to be considering a move for Robby McCrorie according to Chris Jack of The Herald.

Where Rangers keeper Robby McCrorie could end up next

Few keepers can claim to have a 100% record in Old Firm derbies with zero goals conceded.

In fact, the only goal he has conceded was in injury time at Easter Road when half the B team had come on and he was left with no chance to stop a free header.

His reaction to conceding was straight out of the Allan McGregor handbook of disgruntlement.

McCrorie should have had a chance long before he did and one where the manager hadn’t already made his mind up.

Having been at Rangers for his whole career, Robby McCrorie has always had high expectations and was long seen as the natural replacement for the legendary keeper.

He has done little wrong when picked but nobody would blame the Scotland youth cap were he to decide to move on.

Regular football at Hull City and Rakow Czestochowa are possible options but not many people would turn down the chance to move to Old Trafford, even if it is to be number two, to a club that has spent in the region of £190m as calculated by Transfermarkt.

A £1m price tag has been claimed by Chris Jack which, for a player who has come through the youth ranks, is always a decent fee.

Life at Rangers has prepared Robby McCrorie to become a regular for Scotland if he plays more often but there is only so much we could demand for a keeper of his age who has barely played for us.

Competing with Allan McGregor was hard but McCrorie would have Andre Onana to battle with after Man Utd paid £47.2m for his services according to Sky Sports.

Leaving Rangers usually involves a step down but if Robby McCrorie decides to join Champions League regulars Man Utd, few would blame him moving from one bench to another.
