Bristol City could beat Rangers to signature of Tomas Kalas – report

The Bristol Post reports that Bristol City hold the ‘trump card’ in the pursuit of Tomas Kalas’ signature.
That could be a blow for Steven Gerrard, as the Scottish Sun reported back in March that both Rangers and Celtic are interested in the Czech international.
Kalas has 12 caps for his country and has been at Chelsea since 2010. Across nine years with the club, he’s made just two league appearances and has played for six other clubs on loan.

Bristol City was his most recent assignment, and he turned out 42 times for The Robins in all competitions during 2018/19.
Now, according to the Bristol Post’s report, he’s in talks over a permanent switch.

It’s claimed City are willing to make him their highest paid player. Furthermore, it’s a low-risk move for both parties, given that the 26-year-old already has a season under his belt at Ashton Gate.
Therefore, it looks as though Gerrard’s search for centre-back cover is set to continue.

As things stand, Rangers will only have two senior centre-backs on the books. Joe Worrall has returned to Nottingham Forest, while Gareth McAuley’s one-year deal is up.
George Edmundson, is a prospect the Gers seem to be particularly keen on. The Scottish Sun reports the club have made a £600k bid for the Oldham Player of the Year, their third offer in a number of weeks.
