Perennially Rangers-linked Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour is a transfer target for Brighton – with the Seasiders linked to Glen Kamara earlier in the window.

Gilmour, 21, finds himself on the fringes of the Stamford Bridge side and without a squad number the expectation is the talented Scotland international will be moved on in the summer.

There is always potential for Billy Gilmour to exit Chelsea on loan and that notion has plenty of Rangers fans hoping to see the ex-Academy kid rock up at Ibrox.

But the fanciful notion is perhaps put into perspective by the latest reports linking Graham Potter’s Brighton team with a £10m permanent move for the youngster.

That’s according to the Scottish Daily Express, who claim the Seagulls are considering a transfer for the midfielder with FA rules preventing them taking another Chelsea player on loan.

That’s because Brighton have Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill on loan with Premier League clubs prevented from taking more than one player on a short team deal from the same club.

Brighton not the only club being linked to Billy Gilmour

It’s an interesting report for Rangers fans and Brighton aren’t the only Premier League club being linked with a move for Billy Gilmour.

Football Insider are claiming that Chelsea could use both Billy Gilmour and Belgian international striker Michu Batshuayi as part-exchange incentives to convince Everton to sell them England U21 international Anthony Gordon.

With all this in mind it looks increasingly likely that Gilmour will be heading out of Chelsea this summer but Rangers don’t appear to be in the market for the player.

Interestingly, the links between Brighton and Billy Gilmour comes amid reports the club are tailing Rangers star Glen Kamara.

If reports over the last few years are correct, Brighton are long term admirers of Kamara and the player was mooted as a potential replacement for Yves Bissouma.

But now it appears that the club may set their eyes on another player with links to Rangers as Billy Gilmour still looks to settle his future this summer.

Meanwhile, Rangers fans are wondering if the club should’ve had a penalty in the 2-2 Champions League draw with PSV Eindhoven.
