Premier League Brentford have opted to splash the cash on Celtic centre-half Kristoffer Ajer instead of ex-Rangers defender Joe Worrall, according to reports.
The Daily Record are claiming that the newly-promoted Premier League club pulled the plug at the last minute on a £15m deal for Nottingham Forest defender Worrall, 24, to move elsewhere.

The Record report claims that Worrall had been lined up by Brentford prior to Ajer becoming available as the defender awaits a shot at the English top flight.
But according to Forest manager Chris Hughton, it looks like he’ll have to wait another year at least as amid claims outgoings are unlikely.
“I don’t think so (regarding players leaving),” said Hughton.
“We’ve got some players who haven’t been involved who you know about. There are perhaps possibilities for them to move on.”
Worrall spent a season on loan at Ibrox between 2018 and 2019 during Steven Gerrard’s first season in charge at Ibrox.
To say the defender was polarising would be putting it mildly as Worrall blended a mixture of strong performances in big matches with a lacklustre concentration in the smaller ones.
Whilst Worrall was certainly still raw in 2018, the defender continues to be regarded as a solid option with a decent future down south and it’ll be interesting to see how this season goes for the centre-back.
Joe Worrall made 32 appearances for Rangers in 18/19 and has now gone on to play 137 for Nottingham Forest, the club he supported as a youth.
Brentford aren’t the only Premier League club to be mentioned alongside Joe this summer as a long-term admirer was linked in the press.
