Football Insider report that Bournemouth are set to give Rangers a big boost this summer.
They allowed Jermain Defoe to move to Glasgow on loan in January, sending many Bears into meltdown.
The deal agreed was for 18 months. Crucially, though, the Cherries have two chances to bring back the veteran striker. Either this summer or in January 2020.
However, the report claims Eddie Howe has no intention of recalling Defoe when the window opens again.
Big boost for next season
Defoe’s has had a mixed time of it since arriving in Glasgow.
He arrived with a bang, scoring on his debut against Kilmarnock. Since then, though, he’s mostly had to play second fiddle to Alfredo Morelos, making more substitute appearances than starts.

Still, he’s registered six goals and an assist in eleven outings and grabbed the crucial opener against Hearts in midweek.
With the future of Morelos uncertain, it’s a big positive that Defoe looks like remaining at Ibrox.
The player himself made it clear he wants to stay and Gerrard is a big fan, citing his influence both on and off the pitch [both in The Scotsman].

Rangers have a lot of young talent coming through in forward areas, but this news suggests that crucially, the club will still have an experienced head among its attacking ranks next season.
Even at 36, Defoe is hungry for success. Holding onto him means one box would already be ticked, heading into the transfer market.
