The Scottish Sun reports that Blackpool are weighing up a move for Jamie Murphy.
The Gers winger is currently building up match fitness after spending almost a year on the sidelines with serious knee ligament damage.

As he returns to full fitness, it’s said that the Tangerines are ‘tracking his situation’ with a view to bringing him back to English club football.
Murphy spent five years in England from 2013 to 2018 during stints with Sheffield United and Brighton. It was from the latter that Rangers signed him for an estimated fee of £1.08m [Transfermarkt].

It’s said that when a move to Ibrox was in the offing, Simon Grayson had tried to sign the winger for Sunderland.
Now boss of Blackpool, the manager is making another move for the 29-year-old.

Verdict

Murphy is currently rated at £1.13m by Transfermarkt, a touch more than Rangers paid for him at the beginning of last season.
Whether a player who is just recovering from a serious knee problem would be able to command that fee, though, is another matter.
It would seem unlikely that Murphy himself would push to leave. He’s a Rangers fan who is surely looking to kick on and make his mark at Ibrox this season.

Furthermore, it seems he’s part of the manager’s plans. Unlike some others who look exit-bound, he has been involved in all aspects of pre-season training so far and turned out for the club’s development team at the weekend in an attempt to build up fitness.
If the Gers successfully capture Ryan Kent, Murphy’s importance to the squad may change. For now, though, he looks to be competing with Jordan Jones for the left wing berth.
With such a big campaign in the offing at Rangers, it would be a major shock if he decided his future lay elsewhere.
