Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been perennially linked with the Ibrox exit door ever since joining in 2017 and Newcastle United are one side who’ve been routinely mentioned.
Most recently linked in the January of 2020 [Daily Star], the Magpies have always been touted as a potential destination for the Colombian firebrand.
But despite there being little in the way of reported interest in the last 18 or so months, following a high-profile takeover the links between St James Park, Ibrox and Alfredo Morelos are back.
Newcastle will certainly have cash to burn following the £305m Saudi Public Investment Fund-led buyout of the club with the group said to boast wealth of £320bn [Independent].
Alfie, 25, is entering an interesting juncture at Ibrox with his contract set to expire at the end of next season and Rangers needing to cash in on some of their biggest assets before long.
According to the Express, Newcastle remain keen on the striker with Morelos being included on a January shortlist alongside international srikers.
Given the club will have cash to burn in the coming window, it’s not so far outwith the realms of possibility that Newcastle may be interested in the Colombian forward.
Now in his fifth season at Ibrox – and one goal away from 100 – Morelos has been a superb servant over the years and perhaps cashing in in the next couple of windows is a requirement.
If the Toon Army come knocking – and they bring their chequebook – then perhaps Alfie could form part of the historic revolution happening on Tyneside.
Speaking of Rangers links to Newcastle United, Morelos isn’t the only one being linked to St James Park after the Saudi Arabian-led takeover.
