Rangers boss Michael Beale claims the truth about bids for Feyenoord striker Danilo are ‘somewhere in between’ the reports.
The Gers beat Hamburg 2-1 on Saturday afternoon with Fashion Sakala and James Tavernier finding the net.
Rangers are just a couple of weeks out from the big kick-off now but Beale remains keen on adding new signings.
Another forward is wanted – even after landing Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers this summer.
The main name in the mix is Feyenoord hitman Danilo.
The Daily Record claim that Danilo has already told Feyenoord to let him leave this summer.
That report suggested that Rangers were confident their latest bid – worth around £5.2million plus add-ons – would tempt Feyenoord into a deal.
There has been no agreement just yet but Rangers seem to believe that a deal is in the offing.
Michael Beale comments on Rangers target Danilo
Beale was unsurprisingly asked about Danilo after Rangers’ win over Hamburg.
Speaking to Rangers Review, Beale noted that there hasn’t been much progress on Danilo this weekend.
Beale suggested that he has seen rumours suggesting that Rangers have had bids rejected and accepted for the striker with rumours all over the place.
Beale indicated that the truth is actually ‘somewhere in between’, leaving Rangers fans to try and work out exactly what that means.

We can only guess that Rangers are close to agreeing the framework of a deal for Danilo.
However, Feyenoord will want to replace him first and that leaves Rangers waiting for news on a deal.
Beale added that Danilo is a ‘good player’ and that other clubs are interested in him, but that Rangers have other targets too.
“Nothing less or more than where it was yesterday,” said Beale. “There were lots of reports about bids being accepted or rejected and it’s somewhere in between. It’ll come to fruition, or it won’t. He’s a good player. We’re not the only team interested in him. He’s not the only target we have either. But that’s the name that’s getting run with.”
“So, just out of respect for Arne Slot and Feyenoord, the negotiations should stay quiet. You know, they come out from the other side rather than this side, and we’d rather be quiet and where it goes, we’ll wait and see,” he added.
