Bayer Leverkusen are hot on the heels of Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez ahead of the summer transfer window.

Fernandez has starred in his debut season at Ibrox, which has led to a number of clubs taking a keen interest in securing his services.

Having signed him for a little over £3m, Rangers could make ten times that amount from his sale in the coming months.

Bayer Leverkusen scout Emmanuel Fernandez in Falkirk clash

Bayer Leverkusen had a scout in the stands to watch Fernandez as his Rangers side beat Falkirk 6-3 on Sunday, according to the Scottish Sun.

Falkirk manager John McGlynn also revealed at the end of the game that he was impressed by the calibre of clubs in attendance to watch the game.

He confirmed that there was someone present from Bayer Leverkusen as well as a scout from Feyenoord.

McGlynn claimed that it was the first time that a foreign side was in attendance to watch his side play.

He knew that there was a good chance that they could have been in the stands to cast a look at the Gers players.

The Falkirk boss also stated that there were English clubs present, with Fernandez being linked with Arsenal and Chelsea.

He said: “When I got the list of scouts in that were coming to our game yesterday, I said ‘We must have arrived, guys.’

“We had Feyenoord and Bayer Leverkusen watching our game yesterday.

“That’s the first foreign scouts I think I’ve ever had watching our team. They might have been watching the Rangers team as well, right enough.

“There were a number of scouts, much more scouts there yesterday than there have been. A lot of English clubs, well-recognised, prominent English clubs.”

Is Fernandez considering leaving Rangers?

After one season at Rangers, Fernandez would not have expected there to be so much interest in his services.

He was at Peterborough United, establishing himself as a first-team regular only a year ago, and is now on the radar of some of the top European clubs.

As things stand, the Nigeria international is focused on winning the title at Rangers and ending the season on a high note.

He is happy with how things have gone at Ibrox and is viewed as one of the most important first-team players.

The centre-back is not considering leaving, as things stand, but his head could turn if clubs like Arsenal or Chelsea come in with an offer.

At that time, it would be down to Rangers to gauge the offer and if it’s a deal that works for all parties, he could be allowed to leave.
