Earlier this summer, Rangers were linked with Arsenal defender Auston Trusty, but it now seems that the Ibrox club will miss out on the signing of the USA international to Sheffield United.
The Daily Mail reported in May that Rangers want(ed) to sign Auston Trusty from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The report claimed that the Scottish Premiership giants were hoping to get a deal done for Trusty for £2 million.
The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Birmingham City in the Championship in England from Premier League club Arsenal.
Trusty joined Arsenal from the Colorado Rapids in January 2022 and stayed on loan at the Major League Soccer club until the summer of 2022.

The American defender was then sent out on loan to Birmingham.
Trusty was one of the best players for Birmingham last season, and there was no surprise when it emerged that Rangers wanted to sign him.
Rangers did not have the best of times defensively last season and lost out on the Scottish Premiership title to Celtic.
Rangers to miss out on Arsenal defender Auston Trusty to Sheffield United
However, it seems that Rangers will not be able to sign Trusty this summer.
That’s because the American is on the verge of joining Sheffield United.
Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that the Blades will pay Arsenal £5 million in transfer fees for the 24-year-old.
Sheffield United will play in the Premier League next season after winning promotion from the Championship.
During his loan spell at Birmingham last season, Trusty made 44 appearances in the Championship.
The defender scored four goals and gave two assists in those matches.
