Ryan Kent has all but left Rangers, all he has to do now is decide where he will be playing next.

A new name has emerged recently in Club Brugge as reported by The Scotsman and the Gers winger will face tough competition holding down a regular place should he move to the Juniper Pro League outfit.

The one thing Ryan Kent has never been known for is goals but, if he leaves Rangers for Brugge, this is exactly what he will need to produce.

First choice wingers Noa Lang, the Netherlands international, has 11 for the season and Andreas Skov Olsen, who cost a similar £7m fee as Kent, has nine, despite being out injured for a spell.

Ryan Kent has six in his last two seasons – combined.

Skov Olsen is on a goal every three games for Brugge whilst Kent is on one every seven for Rangers.

The grass might not be greener for Ryan Kent if he leaves Rangers

At Rangers, the 26-year old former Liverpool academy graduate is almost guaranteed a regular place in the starting XI, at a club like Brugge, this wouldn’t be the case.

For a long time now, Kent has had an almost free pass because of big performances in Old Firm derbies or in Europe, but even those dried up this season.

His display against Celtic at Hampden, albeit after returning from injury, summed up his efforts this season.

Short of ideas and, worryingly, short of effort.

Michael Beale has complained about how wasteful his players have been since he arrived and it would be a shock if the forward line doesn’t see major surgery this summer.

And not just to Kemar Roofe.

With the news that Antonio Colak is also available for sale, Rangers fans could see massive changes to our strikers and wingers in the squad.

Work rate shouldn’t be a quality that is praised, it should be a pre-requisite, as should double digits for goals and assists.

Malik Tillman, Tom Lawrence and Todd Cantwell all seem capable of that sort of output and Fashion Sakala is close but we need more consistency in the front three.

Sakala has missed countless 1v1s and opportunities where he has had a clear sight at goal in recent weeks.

Kent might have his eyes elsewhere but, if he doesn’t improve his numbers, he will soon find out that the grass isn’t always greener – even if his pay packet is bigger.
