Rangers fans are used to the continuing conversation regarding Alfredo Morelos’ future by now with exit reports near perpetual ever since he stepped foot in Ibrox.

From China to the Middle East to France and everywhere in between, there aren’t many destinations which haven’t been mooted when it comes to the Colombian.

But whilst Morelos remains a firm fan favourite in Glasgow – who could resist that cheeky smile or grumpy snarl, eh? – patience it appears it beginning to wear thin.

All Rangers have asked for – as Steven Gerrard once again reiterated – is the best of the striker and commitment to the club, to the cause and to the fans.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

But amid links to Portuguese giants FC Porto Ibrox gaffer Steven Gerrard cut a frustrated figure when pressed on the interest by Sky Sports.

Not only that, but Gerrard hit out at those parties pushing the interest – presumably the player’s representation – and announced that he knows exactly where the reports are coming from.

Worryingly, the Rangers gaffer also claimed that he doesn’t know if Alfie will be around next season or when the player is due to return to pre-season training.

“I don’t know (if Morelos will be at Rangers next season). I can’t answer that for you,” said Gerrard.

“I get asked this question every window and every few weeks because you read more about Alfredo in terms of who he is linked with or where he’s possibly going to go rather than talk about what he does on a football pitch.

“It’s getting a bit tiresome that question. For me, we want the best version of Alfredo, that’s all we ever asked for. The manager, the players, the fans, that’s all we ask for.

“I’ve read a lot of stuff around Alfredo. I know where it’s coming from but I don’t know what’s going to happen with him.

“He is due back at some point, we’re not sure when but hopefully he’ll arrive when he’s ready.

“I’m not frustrated, I’m very happy. We’re just off the back of a fantastic season and I’m so excited for the next season.”

The frustration is evident in these comments and it appears to have slipped into the fans who are also tired of constant speculation regarding Alfie’s future.

Not only that, but they’re not daft – the player’s representation might be trying to get the best deal for Alfie but Morelos is well-placed to quash any fire.

They’ve been siding with the club on Twitter and they want Alfie back and his head in the game ahead of another huge season at Ibrox:

We saw last season Gerrard’s frustration after Morelos had his “head turned” by Lille and throughout the striker’s time in Glasgow there has been a stop start nature to Morelos’ form.

There’s no doubt we have a top talent in El Bufalo but for too long it’s been exhibited in patches, with issues with discipline or transfer speculation seemingly distracting the striker.

This inability to perform across the 10 months of a season without something rearing its head may also be in part the reason why no club is as of yet willing to meet the Gers’ demands.

If someone does, Rangers are clear they will sell, but until they do Alfredo is much better serviced focusing on the football. If he does, that opportunity will surely come.

But tid bits in the press, talk of player discontent and these draining conversations are clearly causing disharmony between the club and player. What’s more it’s disrespectful to the fans.

This is something that’s on Morelos to get in front of as he looks to prove that he’s the £20m striker everyone at Ibrox knows that he can be.

Whilst Morelos continues to be linked with the Ibrox exit door, links to £5m-rated striker who could potentially replace him have been rubbished by a club insider.
