Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is reportedly havering for a move to FC Porto as talk of his agent going over to Portugal to strike a deal persist in the press.
There is some conjecture regarding a price for the striker with Rangers notoriously holding out for £20m and the latest reports claiming Porto only want to spend around £10m [Maisfutebol via Inside Futbol].
This would suggest that both parties remain some ways away from agreeing on a deal and we’ve been here with Alfie plenty of times before.
Rangers of course rejected a reported £16.25m bid for the player from Lille only last season [Daily Mail].
But as far as next steps go Porto is a road well-travelled for South American talent with the likes of Morelos’ Colombian idol Falcao famously exploding onto the scene via Portugal.
There’s definitely a step up in wages and interest in the Iberian nation and Falcao is just one of a multitude of success stories who’ve gone on to great things from the Estádio do Dragão springboard.
After four years and 94 goals in Glasgow, you can see why Porto is an interesting proposition to Morelos, 25, who has reportedly told close friends and family he is yearning for the move.
Porto have also seen the best of the striker, who scored in both games against the Portuguese giants in the 19/20 Europa League Group Stage.
The Colombian managed another in Portugal last season during the 3-3 draw with Benfica at the Estádio da Luz.
But before Rangers fans get too carried away amid the reports, it’s important we take things with a pinch of salt until there is substantial movement.
The Ibrox club must set a transfer precedent with this deal – if it is to come to fruition – with clubs from all around reportedly monitoring Rangers’ best talent.
