Alfredo Morelos’ agent, Theofilos Karasavvidis, has spoken out amid reported interest from Serie A club Fiorentina in the Rangers star, as quoted by Fiorentina.it.
Foot Mercato reported earlier this week that the Italian giants had identified the striker as a target.
It’s claimed that Fiorentina are in the market for a number nine and have El Bufalo at the top of their list but that they need to first sell players in order to raise the necessary funds to meet Rangers’ asking price.
However, surprisingly, Karasavvidis claims he hasn’t heard anything from Florence.
“He is a Glasgow Rangers player, there is nothing to say at the moment”, he told Fiorentina.it [translated] when asked about the rumoured interest. “I am not aware of these contacts.”
Alfredo Morelos’ agent denies Fiorentina interest in Rangers star – Verdict
Karasavvidis’ comments suggest either that there is nothing in the reports linking Fiorentina with Morelos or that the Italian club is biding their time before making official contact with the player.
No offers have landed in the last few weeks for the striker following Rangers’ reported rejection of a bid in the region of £16.25m from Ligue 1 side Lille in early August [Daily Mail].
Plenty of clubs have been credited with an interest, though, including Portuguese giants Porto [Scottish Sun].
Given Jermain Defoe is returning to fitness and that the club have already brought in two new forwards this summer – Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten – it’s likely that if a bid in the region of £20 million lands, Morelos will be off.
That event could still be some time away, though, and in encouraging news for Gers fans, it seems the Colombian international has been putting in the hard yards at the Rangers Training Centre during the international break.
