Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has not been the subject of a £10m bid from FC Porto, the Daily Record understands.

The Ibrox striker, 25, has been extensively linked with a move to the Portuguese giants over the last few weeks with A Bola claiming Porto could make a bid of around £10m rising to £15m.

Ekrem Konur, a Turkish Italian journalist who is verified on Twitter, would then claim that Rangers rejected such a proposal this week.

This would’ve initially been music to the ears of Gers fans who seen their side reject a £16.25m bid for the striker from Lille last summer [Daily Mail].

However, the Record are now claiming that talk of a Morelos exit bid is premature despite claiming Alfie is “on a list” of potential Porto summer striking targets.

That report also explains the presence of Morelos’ agent Michael Gorman in Portugal who – far from finalising El Bufalo’s exit – was facilitating the transfer of Atletico Nacional defender Yerson Mosquera to Wolves.

This is also in keeping with the comments of former Ibrox skipper Craig Moore earlier in the week, who claims that a Morelos move to FC Porto “isn’t even on the table”.

“From my connections and people that I speak to in Portugal, the Porto thing is not on the table, it’s not even on the table,” said Moore [GO Radio Football Show 05/07/21].

“But obviously we keep hearing about it. I would not be surprised if at some stage a club does come in for Morelos because he’s at a good age.

“25-years-old, scores goals, has scored goals at the top, top-level, not only domestically but in European football where he had an incredible run.

“There’s always going to be interest but eventually there comes a timeline in terms of ‘if the player is going to leave, then it needs to be done by this time, otherwise we crack on with business’.”

Meanwhile, one of Steven Gerrard’s former managers has been linked with a key Ibrox squad member controversially valued at £7m.
