A move to Rangers may be on the cards for ‘one of the world’s greatest defensive talents’ with Dembo Saidykhan’s agent insisting that his client must move to a league which will allow him to fulfil his potential.

Speaking to Danish publication Tipsbladet, Sacha Empacher all-but ruled out a summer switch to one of Europe’s top-flight leagues for the 20-year-old centre-half.

Young Dembo Saidykhan, the agent says, would benefit far more from joining a club plying their trade in a, with all due respect, ‘lesser’ competition.

And that could stand Rangers in good stead. The Daily Mail reports that Mick Beale’s side are in contention for Saidykhan’s signature, alongside the likes of Toulouse, FC Nordsjaelland and a recently-relegated Southampton outfit.

“He proved at the U20 African Cup of Nations and at the U20 World Cup that he is one of the world’s greatest defensive talents in his age group. He had some great matches,” Empacher explains.

“We are looking for a place where he can take the next step.”

The baby-faced colossus, who plays for Gambian outfit Steve Biko FC alongside the much-coveted Adama Bojang, would face a battle forcing his way into the Rangers side ahead of Conor Goldson, John Souttar and co.

But the Scottish Premiership has an excellent track record when it comes to setting hungry young players on their way to the top of the game, Kieran Tierney, Moussa Dembele, Calvin Bassey, Nathan Patterson and co all sealing big-money departures after a making a name for themselves in Glasgow.

And while Emphacher did not name the Scottish Premiership directly, he did mention a number of other leagues which fall into a similar category when discussing the ideal destination for his client.

“Belgium, Austria and smaller clubs in the Bundesliga may also be an option,” he adds. “But, right now, everything is still open.

“Here, Denmark, together with a few other leagues, is one of the best places to develop in Europe. He has Bundesliga potential but I think he needs to take a step there every now and then.”
