With another blank against FC Shkupi in the Europa League last night, fans are continuing to call out number one striker Alfredo Morelos after another below-part performance.
Steven Gerrard’s men ultimately got the job done to progress to the second qualifying round of the Europa League, but many still view Morelos as a liability heading into the new season. This leaves the Rangers manager needing more options ahead of the new campaign, especially if the club are looking to challenge Celtic in the short-term for the Premiership title.

It’s worth remembering that Morelos finished top scorer for Rangers last season with 18 goals in all competitions, but some costly misses against Celtic seems to have affected the Colombian hitman’s confidence since February.
The arrival of Umar Sadiq is a sign of intent from the Rangers manager that more quality is needed up top, however with Eduardo Herrera leaving to join Santos Laguna on loan, Gerrard is left with just Sadiq and Morelos vying for the striker’s positions. New-man Sadiq also scored just five times on loan at previous club NAC Breda, with Gerrard seemingly viewing him as a powerful forward to help hold up play as opposed to an out-and-out goalscorer.

That could leave Rangers with just Morelos as the man relied upon to net on a consistent basis. However, with fan unrest growing at the youngster’s performances, Gerrard could do with dipping back into the transfer market and taking some of the burden off his top goalscorer.
