Alfredo Morelos’ red card in Rangers’ late 1-1 draw with Aberdeen on the opening weekend of the season was a major flashpoint.
It came early on in a display from referee Kevin Clancy that drew criticism, as the 10-man Gers nearly got over the line before a stoppage-time equaliser from Bruce Anderson denied them.
Morelos looked set to miss the weekend’s game, the first home league match of the season against St Mirren, but his red card has been overturned, leaving him free to play.

While that is undoubtedly a boost, some Gers fans understandably feel that it isn’t particularly helpful, given the major impact the wrongful dismissal had on their inability to hold onto all three points.
Steven Gerrard’s side put in a hugely impressive performance in spite of Morelos’ early bath, and it is not a major leap to suggest that they would have secured the win if he had remained on the pitch.
