Gabby Agbonlahor has said he’s open to the idea of a move to Rangers.

The ex-Aston Villa and England international striker spoke about job offers he’s had since leaving the Birmingham outfit where he spent his entire career. He spoke candidly about where his future lies.

“As for the SPL, unless it’s one of the big couple of clubs, to be honest, that doesn’t excite me,” said the Aston Villa’s former talisman.

“I don’t need to chase a deal and will only sign for a club that genuinely excites me.

“I have no interest playing below Championship level so abroad realistically is the likely destination if I decide to make that decision.”

But would Rangers fans take him?

Agbonlahor, 31, says he hasn’t been short of offers and he’s eager to return to action. But whether he’s still got the pace which was the crux of his game remains to be seen.

Even then, would the striker add anything to Rangers? Gabby Agbonlahor is after all Villa’s all time Premier League scorer. He’s also said he’s had more than a few offers in the Summer but none of them felt right.

He’s obviously hugely experienced and has played at a very high level in the past. But he also pulled on a Celtic top for a charity match last month.

More than that, he mused about how watching Celtic Park on the TV gave him “goosebumps”. He also said he follows our Old Rivals thanks to the Celtic connection with Martin O’Neill and Stillyan Petrov.

Sorry Gabby, but with patter like that you’ll never make it in the Blue side of Glasgow.

Not that I think you’d ever be offered a contract anyway.
