Rangers take on high flying St Mirren at Ibrox this after noon looking to get out of the funk that has seen points dropped in both the Scottish Premiership and Europa League.
To make matters worse, Philippe Clement’s men should have won both games but have found a lack of goals following the international break.
There was much debate about the line-up for the Rangers team in mid-week but if they are to beat St Mirren there are two fundamental improvements that are needed by the players who the Gers boss has picked.

Line-up for Rangers v St Mirren
The squad is starting to return to something that looks a lot stronger with options off the bench for a few eventualities.
What we have seen against Aberdeen and Aris Limassol though, is that we need to be more clinical and stop conceding stupid, easily prevented goals.
The unfortunate thing for Clement is that it was two different centre-half pairings that lost the two goals so he will now have to decide which pair is less culpable with all four senior defenders fit for selection.
Rangers need to keep winning to hold onto Celtic’s coat tails but St Mirren will be no pushovers.
This is who the manager has gone with to get the job done:
LINE UP
Jack Butland, James Tavernier, Borna Barisic, Leon Balogun, Connor Goldson, John Lundstram, Todd Cantwell, Tom Lawrence, Abdallah Sima, Cyriel Dessers, Ross McCausland.
Todd Cantwell was hooked in mid-week for not doing what he was told by Philippe Clement but it would have been good to see him playing in a central but deeper role.
Against Aberdeen, there were enough chances created to win the game so it’s no surprise that the line-up is similar.
What needs to be improved is the performance and scoring the first goal would certainly settle a few nerves.
Is it too much to ask?
