Rangers’ decision to reduce the Celtic ticket allocation for Old Firm derbies is a major gripe of our rivals – but bluenoses are now urging the club to lock Parkhead fans out of the next one completely.

This comes after it was announced Celtic are utilising Covid-19 protocols to justify locking out away fans from their own stadium.

St Mirren confirmed that they won’t be able to take an away allocation to Celtic Park this weekend, a decision which comes after Hearts fans were locked out of the weekend’s League Cup clash.

This relates to a so-called red zone inside the stadium which means Celtic are displacing season ticket holders and placing them in the away end.

“Celtic have confirmed that no tickets will be issued to St Mirren supporters this Saturday,” reads a St Mirren statement.

“Due to current protocols, Celtic must relocate a high number of season ticket holders to areas which would normally be allocated to the away support.”

Rangers will be watching on with quiet intrigue as the Parkhead club are set to visit Ibrox at the end of the month.

In what will be the first Old Firm derby of this season, the match between Celtic and the Gers promises to be an insightful game that could give some clue to the season ahead.

But whilst Celtic fans might be prepared to pipe up should they be locked out, their own club has provided something of a precedent which Rangers supporters are clear they want to see utilised.

Gers fans took to Twitter to encourage the club to wind up their rivals and refuse them entry to Ibrox when the two sides meet on the 27th of August:

Rangers will welcome the Parkhead side to Ibrox the weekend after next and if the Board and club are on the same wavelength as the support, then there’s going to be a pretty hilarious announcement on this soon enough.

Meanwhile, Rangers fans are sympathetic to supporters of a Premier League club after complaints were made about a shared club partner.
