Rangers start the season as they mean to go on by opening up with a victory over Partick Thistle, but for some Celtic fans, it was a spurned penalty and not the victory which signalled business as usual.
The Ibrox club are firm favourites to go on and claim title number 56 and earn an automatic place in the Champions League group stages for season 22/23.
Celtic find themselves in disarray, toiling to get signings over the line whilst Rangers continue to make impressive moves in the transfer market.
But the excuses are in early as rival Celtic fans rail against the award of a penalty late on in the clash with Partick Thistle.
Rangers were awarded a penalty as the ball struck the wall following a free-kick but replays – with the camera moving swiftly – proved inconclusive.
Ibrox skipper James Tavernier would miss the spot-kick but minutes later Rangers striker Cedric Itten would get the club underway for pre-season and secure a late 1-0 win.
However, for some Celtic fans, the fact Rangers were awarded a penalty against Partick is a sign of the masonic clutches around the Scottish Premiership trophy:

In contrast, the Rangers support are delighted every time those eternal words “PENALTY TO RANGERS” are uttered by the commentator or the club’s Twitter account.
It is truly quite remarkable how embedded this refereeing conspiracy is in the minds of some of our rivals and they’re certainly getting their excuses in early ahead of the new campaign.
But whilst Celtic supporters bemoan the Rangers penalty, the Ibrox support’s attention was firmly on one stand-out Academy kid who impressed at Firhill.
