Hibs have thanked the Rangers medical staff for their role in preventing Scottish Cup disaster after Martin Boyle suffered a head injury at Easter Road.

The 30-year-old Australian winger is a key player for the Hibees but was forced off after falling awkwardly following an aerial challenge with John Souttar.

The moment halted play in Leith with Martin Boyle eventually stretchered off the pitch after receiving treatment from the Hibs and Rangers medical teams.

Martin Boyle “stable” after Hibs injury

Now, the Edinburgh club have released a statement updating fans on the injury to Martin Boyle whilst also thanking the Rangers and Hibs medical teams.

Explaining that the attacker is now in a stable position in hospital, it’s clear both clubs played their role in averting a Scottish Cup disaster.

“Hibernian FC can confirm that Martin Boyle is now in a stable condition in hospital,” reads a Hibs statement.

“The winger went straight to hospital after the first half collision against Rangers and is receiving the best possible care.

“The Club would like to thank the speed of both clubs’ medical departments in attending to Martin on the pitch. Everyone at Hibernian FC wishes Martin a speedy recovery.”

Rangers reach Scottish Cup semi-finals

The polite comments are in stark contrast to the fire and fury you’ll have seen online with regards Rangers’ Scottish Cup victory over Hibs.

Rangers ran out 2-0 winners on the day with goals from John Lundstram and Fabio Silva coming either side of two red cards for Hibs.

Despite both being legitimate red card calls, the decisions have drawn the ire of Michael Stewart and Ian Blackford amongst many others connected to the Edinburgh side.

The truth is, they were just beaten by a better side and with a date at Hampden now pencilled in for Rangers the club is awaiting the Scottish Cup draw later tonight.

Aberdeen and Celtic are the two other teams who have been confirmed in the draw, whilst Hearts travel to Greenock Morton later this evening.

Obviously, we wish Martin Boyle all the best in his recovery from the head injury as Rangers knock his Hibs teammates out the Cup.

Rangers also have their own injury problems surrounding the game with Philippe Clement updating on three players come the final whistle.
