As Rangers defeated Celtic 2-1 at Hampden, any bluenose not in the stadium would’ve been subjected to the embarrassing commentary of Chris Sutton at home.
The outspoken former Parkhead striker loves to stir the referee pot and spent the entire match having a go at whistler Bobby Madden.

The referee appeared determined to let some crunching challenges go for both sides and by the letter of the law, should’ve actually sent Celtic captain Calum McGregor off in the first half.
Yet it was the referee’s decisions regarding Rangers that irked Chris Sutton as former Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson tied the outspoken pundit in knots.
Chris Sutton Rangers Celtic referee bleating a tragic embarrassment
Appearing desperate to blow up any potentially borderline call, Chris Sutton spent the game bleating, moaning and making a fool of himself.
Kemar Roofe should’ve seen red for a professional foul, MOTM John Lundstram was lucky to be on the park, Brother Madden was leaning towards Rangers all game.
The thing is, this consistent moaning about referees whenever Celtic come up short would be funny if it wasn’t so potentially damaging.
Rangers fans have seen pressure sinisterly exerted on officials all season long with nods to Masonic conspiracies aplenty and Celtic benefitting massively from big calls.
The Parkhead side’s goal even came from a free-kick that never was.
This is one of the biggest games of the season, a showpiece event for Scottish football, with a referee trying to let the match run, being criticised by a salty pundit who knows fine well what he’s doing.
The ex-striker couldn’t even resist taking a shot in the post-match as he took to Twitter to vent to supporters.
You only need look at the replies to see the kind of knuckle dragger Chris Sutton is appealing to here.
But whilst Rangers can celebrate a place in the Scottish Cup Final, there’s nothing wrong with calling out this nonsense either.
Laughed out of Hampden by Kevin Thomson and the Rangers support, those salty Celtic tears are oh so sweet but this constant moaning over referees risks bringing the game into disrepute.
