The three managers Rangers fans keep touting to replace Van Bronckhorst

Rangers fans are touting Sean Dyche, Marcelo Bielsa and Kjetil Knutsen as potential Giovanni van Bronckhorst replacements should the Dutchman be sacked.

We don’t want to be disrespectful to the Ibrox manager given that Gio is still in a job but it’s our news to report the news and as results and performances don’t meet standards the news concerns Gio’s future.

We don’t think the Ibrox boss has quite reached the sacking stage yet, but we reckon he’s edging pretty close with Rangers fans a hard to crowd to convince once their minds have been made up.

A stuttering 1-1 draw with Livingston at the weekend follows on from a string of poor performances and if things get any worse we suspect the only solution will be the chop.

Rangers fans are already talking about which managers might be best to replace him if that decision is made and there are three names which keep popping up.

Sean Dyche

Ex-Burnley boss Sean Dyche turned the Clarets into a team of Premier League stalwarts over 10 years in the division, with one relegation in 2015 the only real black mark from his time there.

The Burnley boss also bounced straight back the season after before losing his job in April this year amid a run of poor results.

A British coach with a fierce approach, Sean Dyche would command respect in the dressing room and make Rangers a tougher team to beat.

It’s not the first time Dyche has been linked to Rangers either.

Marcelo Bielsa

This might be a remarkably ambitious appointment – should the axe fall on Giovanni van Bronckhorst – but the madness of the entire thing has Rangers fans musing.

A legend at every club he’s managed, the Argentine coach is out of a job since February after being sacked by Leeds United amid a poor run of form.

An eccentric character, Bielsa guided Leeds United back to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years whilst he has managed in France, Italy, Spain and even the Argentine national team.

There is one stumbling block though – Bielsa was reportedly on £8m-per-year at Leeds United so we don’t reckon he comes cheap.

Kjetil Knutsen

Norwegian coach Kjetil Knutsen is the preferred choice of plenty of Rangers fans with the Bodo/Glimt manager winning two Eliteserien since taking over at the club in 2018.

Not only that, but Knutsen has the Norwegian outfit punching well above their weight in Europe and his Bodo team are famed for their high-intensity, attacking football.

Kjetil Knutsen even managed to defeat Celtic in the Europa Conference League last season and there’s a feeling he already has the better of Ange Postecoglou at Parkhead.

Meanwhile, one Premiership rival rubs salt in the wounds with his post Rangers Livingston comments.
