The Rangers XI that San Francisco 49ers takeover could fund in summer transfer spree

Whenever there is talk of a takeover or investment, the first thought that comes to mind is how much money can be spent, and Rangers fans are no different.

The 49ers Enterprises consortium is close to agreeing a deal to buy a majority stake in the Ibrox outfit in what could be a game changing moment in the club’s illustrious history.

Financial fair play has an obvious impact on benefactors just ploughing money into transfers, however, with the debts cleared and an improved structure in place, is this how Rangers could line up next season?

Possible Rangers XI if 49ers takeover goes through

Trying to stick to the recruitment plan laid out by Patrick Stewart, here are the signings that could bolster Rangers’ squad.

Nathan Patterson

David Moyes might value Nathan Patterson higher than Sean Dyche did but he is the obvious long-term successor to James Tavernier.

As this is a hypothetical situation, the Scotland international is injury free and read to play 50 games a season.

Mees Hilgers

Rangers were linked to Mees Hilgers in Nils Koppen’s first full window as head of recruitment, however, Robin Propper arrived from Twente instead.

At 23-years old, Hilgers fits the player trading model better and has just a year left on his contract at the Eredivisie outfit.

Marko Soldo

Midfield reinforcements will be needed and Croatia is a market that the Light Blues have shopped in before.

The 21-year old defensive midfielder is tall, athletic, technically sound and capable of contributing to goals and assists despite playing in a deeper role, he’s also been offered to Rangers already.

Perfect for a team that needs versatility in their midfielders for domestic and European football.

Vaclav Cerny

A safe bet. But an expensive one.

Wolfsburg are reported to want £8m, a similar fee to the one that was paid for Ryan Kent, Rangers could guarantee double digit goals and assists and nail down the right wing.

Abdallah Sima

Fears about Sima’s injury record have been eased this season and it is easy to forget that he only moved to professional football at 17-years old.

He has a year left on his deal at Brighton and, probably, hadn’t done enough to persuade David Weir that he should be offered new terms.

Nils Koppen should be at the front of the queue for a player who would love to return to Rangers.

Adama Traore

One of Rangers’ biggest problems this season has been a shortage of depth on the wings.

Like Cerny, Adama Traore offers guaranteed numbers and is now available on a Bosman after being in the ‘advanced stages’ of a move to Rangers in the summer.

There wouldn’t be any resale value, but with Oscar Cortés and Sima on the books, there wouldn’t need to be.

Is this how Rangers could line up next season?
