Rangers star John Lundstram had an excellent game against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League second leg as the Ibrox were defeated on the night but progressed 4-2 on aggregate to the quarter-finals.

A nervy start saw Red Star take a 1-0 lead and if it weren’t for the excellence of Allan McGregor then it could have been much worse as the sides went in for the interval.

A Ryan Kent goal drew the Gers level and with Red Star having to score four to prevail, the task was almost complete, despite a late penalty to the hosts, the Ibrox side progressed into the last eight for the first time since 2008.

McGregor was obviously the standout, but Lundstram had another fantastic game.

His recent performances have seen Gio’s January decision to keep the player vindicated, as there were teams interested in signing him during the window.

Hopefully, he can continue this form up until the end of the season and show Gio exactly why he should be in the starting XI.

Meanwhile, Gio might have a contract dilemma coming up following Allan McGregor’s performance last night.
