Sunderland attacker Finn Geragusian has a contract offer on the table amid transfer links to Rangers.

Despite signing Lawrence Shankland from Hearts, the Light Blues are keen on bolstering their attack and adding firepower to their ranks.

Geragusian has admirers at Rangers as he has impressed for the Black Cats’ Under-18s side last season.

He would cost six figures in compensation as his contract at the Stadium of Light is set to run out at the end of June.

Sunderland make Finn Geragusian a contract offer with him yet to sign it

Sunderland announced their retained list ahead of the 2026/27 season and stated the plan for the players out of contract.

They revealed that Geragusian was one of the youth players who had been offered a new deal, so the decision now rests with the 18-year-old.

The Black Cats distinguished their squad in four categories: Contracted, Out of contract and released, Ongoing discussions, and Youth players offered professional contracts.

The Armenia international falls into the fourth category, but it is worth noting that he is not currently in talks with the club.

That means that his terms are not being considered by Sunderland, and he has to take what is on the table or consider his options.

Why signing Geragusian is a sensible move for Rangers

Given his age and potential, and the fact that he would arrive on a free transfer, Rangers may consider making a move to bring him to Ibrox.

A paltry £173k in compensation is nothing as the Gers are signing a player with bags of potential.

They have not shied away from signing high-potential youngsters in the past, and that should continue under the current ownership structure as well.

He is someone who’s not just good at leading the line as a central striker, but is also capable of playing out wide.

Despite not making his debut for Sunderland, he already has a senior debut for his country, which shows he has international exposure at a young age.

While he may not be ready to break into the Rangers’ first team, signing him and loaning him out would be a sensible thing to do.
