Rangers were right not to push through a move for reported target Thomas Robert, with the French talent now struggling for playing time at Airdrieonians.
The Gers were one of several clubs reportedly interested in the 20-year-old earlier in the season [Scottish Sun] after his impressive start in SPFL League One following a surprise summer transfer from Montpellier.

He joined Celtic on trial in January but the Daily Record subsequently reported that the Hoops wouldn’t make a call on a possible transfer until a new manager and director of football are appointed, so he’s still technically available.
Yet, the lack of recent speculation linking Rangers with Robert suggests that the Ibrox club have moved on, and that certainly looks like the right decision.
The attacking midfielder clearly has talent, and the Gers should always be on the lookout for players who can unlock defences.
However, while he produced four goals and two assists before the lower-league shutdown in January, he’s managed nothing of note since last month’s resumption.
In fact, Robert is currently struggling to make it into Airdrie’s starting XI.

Ian Murray’s team are pushing for a playoff spot but Robert has barely featured in recent times, playing just 18 minutes of their last four league fixtures.
If he can’t make it into a third-tier side, there isn’t much chance of him having an impact in the Premiership in the near future and the Gers have enough talented attacking prospects in the Academy right now who deserve priority in the B team next season.
In other news, Rangers have agreed to significant off-field action which will begin on Friday.
