Rangers pre-season training is well underway and there is a noticeable freshness about Michael Beale’s side.

Gone are the clips of Alfredo Morelos trailing behind the rest or Ryan Kent beating players thirty yards from goal before playing a square ball.

As fans look to get a glimpse of their potential new Rangers heroes, we take a look at what and who out of the new signings have caught the eye in pre-season training so far.

Head of performance, Jack Ade, has already said that the intensity of training is getting ramped up and every post we have seen so far has confirmed this, however, is there anything specific that we can take from the early showings?

Kieran Dowell is a signing that has gone under the radar

A player who was part of England’s Under-20 World Cup winning side playing off the right-hand side now finds himself playing more centrally and he looks like he could be a real difference maker.

In recent seasons, Rangers have been too slow to progress the ball in midfield and Kieran Dowell has shown already that he has the vision to play one-touch football.

Competition up front is fierce

Kemar Roofe needs to stay fit but, alongside Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers and Abdallah Sima, Rangers are looking as strong as they have for years in terms of attacking options on early pre-season viewing.

All of them have shown up well in the fleeting videos with Lammers and Sima displaying their finishing and Roofe looking sharp again.

Rangers are going to be very aggressive out of possession

Every game situation shown so far has seen every player pressing early and pressing high.

Rangers always look and play so much better when they aren’t being passive and are forcing other teams into mistakes, it’s positive to see an immediate increase in tempo in pre-season training – long may it continue.

It’s early days but the signs are that the Gers gaffer’s promise of us seeing a different Rangers team is coming true and not just in terms of personnel.
