Rangers currently have nine players out on loan this season. So just how are they getting on away from Ibrox?
Phillipe Clement has finally got his Rangers side playing some decent football. After what was a horror start to the season under Michael Beale, the Gers are back in business – with the big Belgian manager navigating at the helm.
The first-team squad is in really good shape. Players like James Tavernier, Leon Balogun and John Lundstram are all in fine form.
But there were nine players who left the club on loan this season, hoping to help sides elsewhere, whilst also improving themselves as a player. Here’s how they’re;e getting on away from Ibrox.

9: Jack Harkness – Greenock Morton
- Apps: 0
- Goals: 0
- Assists: 0
It’s not gone quite according to plan for Jack Harkness at Greenock Morton.
After moving, the defender suffered an injury before even making an appearance. He is facing an extended spell on the sidelines which looks to rule him out until at least the end of the calendar year.
Speedy recovery, Jack.
8: Mackenzie Strachan – Stranraer
- Apps: 4
- Goals: 0
- Assists: 0
Mackenzie Strachan hasn’t been exactly receiving the game time he would’ve liked away from Ibrox.
The 19-year-old academy star only has four appearances, with just two starts – equating to a total of just 43 minutes a game.
In this time he has had no real involvement. A shame for the youngster, but there’s still a long way to go in the season.
7: Jacob Pazikas – Civil Service Strollers
- Apps: 7
Jacob Pazikas remains sidelined with a finger injury – sustained in August.
However, he has made seven appearances before this on loan for the Civil Service Strollers – which will do the 18-year-old shot-stopper the world of good.
6: Kristian Webster – Cumbernauld Colt
- Apps: 9
The 18-year-old has started in each of the side’s previous four league outings after Kristian Webster proved his worth in substitute appearances combined with a few starts.
Again, as a young lad – the most important thing is first-team football, which he now appears to be getting in abundance at Cumbernauld Colt.
5: James Graham – Annan Athletic
- Apps: 8
- Goals: 0
- Assists: 1
The 19-year-old has been featuring in the Scottish League One for Annan Athletic, managing one assist in the eight games he’s played.
He has only started three, whilst managing 36 minutes a game – so that’s why we can’t rank him much higher.
4: Ben Williamson – Partick Thistle
- Apps: 11
- Goals: 0
- Assists: 1
Ben Williamson has featured 11 times for Partick Thistle this season. Mosty off the bench, the young midfielder has been a decent addition to their ranks.
He has managed one assist along the way.
3: Lewis Budinauckas – Stranraer
- Apps: 6
Six consecutive starts for Stranraer unsure Lewis Budinauckas is thoroughly enjoying his loan spell away.
Unlike Strachan on the same side, Budinauckas has established himself as a regular starter and has been competent between the sticks as he gets some much-needed first-team football away from Rangers.
2: Ianis Hagi – Alaves
- Apps: 10
- Goals: 2
- Assists: 0
A man that many were shocked to see level Ibrox on loan, Ianis Hagi has been featuring for Alaves in La Liga.
It’s been hit-and-miss for Hagi. He has put in some good performances but has mostly been utilised as a substitute. Nevertheless, he still has two goals.
His finest moment came in a Romania shirt recently in EURO 2024 qualifying.
1: Alex Lowry – Hearts
- Apps: 11
- Goals: 1
- Assists: 4
Alex Lowry is undisputedly the best Rangers player out on loan this season. He’s performing very well in the Scottish Premiership for Hearts.
The 20-year-old has one goal in 11 apps and is establishing himself as a key squad player. Well in. Alex.
