Rangers fans have a new hero in Antonio Colak and the Croatian hitman’s latest comments about Dado Prso and Nikica Jelavic will only endear him further to the Ibrox faithful.

The big striker has been on relentless form in Glasgow as of late and leads the Scottish Premiership scoring charts with ten goals after only nine games. The Croatian has 13 in 16 in all competitions.

Colak’s weekend double in the 4-0 win over St Mirren was his third straight Premiership brace and the goals continue to pour in for a player in a purple patch and falling in love with his new club.

Not bad for a £1.8m summer signing from Greek outfit PAOK.

Antonio Colak wants to follow in Prso and Jelavic Rangers footsteps

Speaking to the Champions League Magazine Show, Antonio Colak appeared to infer that this is a match made in Rangers heaven as he set his sights on the number 9 shirt made famous by his compatriots Dado Prso and Nikica Jelavic.

Both players remain revered by the Rangers faithful and alongside Niko Kranjcar, Niko Katic and Borna Barisic complete a series of Croatian footballers who’ve left their mark on Ibrox.

Antonio Colak aims to be the next and if his early Rangers form is anything to go by, he’s already started doing exactly that.

“Before I arrived I though the club was big but it wasn’t until later that I realised just how big,” explains Antonio Colak.

“From the fans’ perspective, it’s the best club in the world.

“All the Croatians who have played for Rangers have left an indelible mark on the club. I saw that the number 9 shirt was available which (Dado) Prso and (Nikica) Jelavic wore and here I am wearing it too.

“I hope to continue their legacy.”

We hope you do too, Antonio.

Meanwhile, Rangers have moved to sign up one Academy graduate for whom there are majorly high hopes at Ibrox.
